At the heart of my librarianship philosophy is the belief that the library is a welcoming and accessible hub of information resources. I firmly believe in the pivotal role of the school librarian as curator, collaborator and instructor, dedicated to success of students and staff both inside and outside the classroom.

As an information literacy specialist, a school librarian is an essential instructional leader who contributes significantly to the development of literacies, encompassing information, visual, media, news, and digital literacies. Librarians support the entire school community in the pursuit of ethical and quality information literacy practices.

A school librarian has the unique opportunity to engage with students early on and create a positive association, if not a love, for the resources a library offers. A school library should be a welcoming and engaging space where students can pursue a love of reading, stories, and personal interests. A school librarian should inspire a love of curiosity, learning, and inquiry.
